Success Lessons From Watching Tim Tebow
Developing the Next Generation of Rainmakers Success Lessons from Watching Tim Tebow Ok, I confess I just have to write something about Tim Tebow. The first reason I had to write something is because he has taken the Denver Broncos from 1-4 to 8-6, winning 7 of 9 games. The second reason is because he has been attacked by NFL players and others because he is openly Christian on and off the football field and is widely mocked for âTebowing,â praying on one knee before and during football games. It has been interesting to read: The Weird Controversy of Tim Tebow and Tim Tebow: Both the wonder and the controversy continue. He has also been mocked by football players like Brian Urlacher who after the Chicago Bears gave the game to the Broncos said: âHeâs a good running back ⦠He does a good job for them,â Most importantly, I have to write something because of the way Tim Tebow lives his life. He doesnât just talk the talk and âTebowâ on the field. He walks the walk through his contributions to help those in need. Check out the Tebow Foundation website to get the idea. In the about section, it says: The Foundation utilizes the public platform that God has blessed Tim Tebow with to inspire and make a difference in peoples lives throughout the world. I searched for something written about him beyond his Christian faith that might express what lawyers can learn from him. I found a Les Carpenter Yahoo Sports Post: Debunking the myths of Tim Tebow. I found this quote in the piece interesing: The phrase most often attributed to him is not about God but rather, âTell me how I can get better.â I also found Chris Bradyâs blog post Tim Tebow: Unconventional Just May Mean Revolutionary. I was inspired by this assessment: There are intangibles to greatness that come from deep within, that defy the odds and mystify prognosticators, and that just simply canât be contained. Leadership matters. Character matters. Attitude matters. The will to win matters. Critics, however, donât matter. Arenât these attributes that clients look for in lawyers? Donât clients want to do business with lawyers constantly striving to get better? P.S. When we received our Sports Illustrated magazine last week, Tim Tebow was on the cover. If you follow sports you know that is considered a jinx. So, I was not surprised that the Broncos lost yesterday to the New England Patriots. Darn, I wish they had not put him on the cover. I practiced law for 37 years developing a national construction law practice representing some of the top highway and transportation construction contractors in the US.
